Barcelona have confirmed an agreement with Liverpool for the signing of Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.
The club’s official website says Suarez will travel to Spain next week for a medical and to sign a five-year contract with La Blaugrana.
He will be presented to the media as a Barcelona player once the formalities have been completed.
Barca have not confirmed a transfer fee in the published statement but reports in Spain have put the figure somewhere around €70m.
Liverpool released a statement regarding the transfer on their website, wishing the forward the best at his new club.
"Liverpool FC confirms that Luis Suarez will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona," it ran.
"The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities, which will then conclude the transfer.
"We would like to thank Luis for his contribution and the role he played in helping bring Champions League football back to Anfield.
"Everyone at Liverpool Football Club wishes Luis and his family well for the future."
