Kroos: Germany not champions yet

Toni Kroos has warned Germany not to assume they have already won the World Cup after routing Brazil 7-1 in the semi-final.

Germany humiliated the hosts on Tuesday night and will play either the Netherlands or Argentina in Sunday’s final.

AS reports Kroos – said to be bound for Real Madrid after the tournament – as stressing that there is another game to be won and it won’t be easy.

“We’re aware of the great game that we’ve had but as I said after [Germany beat Portugal 4-0 in their opening game] we are here to be champions and we still have a very difficult match ahead,” Kroos said.

“It’s difficult. The team is well aware of the desire to be champions and no one has been champion in the semi-final. I’m convinced we will play a great final.”

Kroos, who scored twice in as many minutes in the first-half, added that post-match celebrations were kept to a minimum with the next match in mind.

“The atmosphere in the dressing room was obviously very good, but we still have a game to win,” Kroos noted.
