Angel Di Maria is determined to overcome the hamstring injury he suffered in Argentina’s World Cup quarter-final win over Belgium.

The Real Madrid midfielder had to be replaced in the first-half of the 1-0 win and AS reports that it has been confirmed Di Maria has torn his hamstring.

Di Maria hopes to be back in eight days as if his teammates dispatch the Netherlands in the semi-final, he wants to contribute to victory in the final.

“I want to be there. I’ll kill myself to recover because if we go to the final I want to be there. The boys need me,” he is quoted as saying.

It’s claimed that Argentina are using stem cells to treat the injury, a similar procedure used by Madrid to enable Di Maria to play in the Champions League final.

The Argentine medical staff is attempting to repair the tissue but it’s acknowledged that Di Maria is pushing it to be fit to play in the final, should La Albiceleste qualify.
