Victor Valdes’ agent has contested the decision of Monaco not to sign his client due to the knee injury he suffered in March.

Monaco announced yesterday they wouldn’t sign the now former Barcelona goalkeeper due to concerns over his fitness after Valdes tore ligaments in his last appearance for La Blaugrana.

But Gines Carvajal told AS that his client signed with Monaco and he expects the contract to be honoured.

“We have signed a four-year contract with Monaco and we will enforce it,” the agent said.

Valdes isn’t expected to be fully fit and able to play until October or November and it was claimed earlier in the summer that Monaco wanted to back out of the agreement.

Mundo Deportivo add that Valdes is to continue his recovery at a facility in Germany while Carvajal deals with Monaco.
