Leroy Fer was delighted to help the Netherlands beat Chile 2-0 and ensure the Oranje topped Group B.
Fer came on as a second half substitute and scored the opening goal only moments later, with fellow sub Memphis Depay later doubling the advantage.
“A good ball came in from Daryl Janmaat and I headed it in well,” Fer said, according to Dutch publication De Telegraaf.
“It was 0-0 when I came on and a point was enough, but to win is just awesome.
“Memphis proved himself against Australia and he’s done it again. He is a great talent.
“And now we’re on to the second round. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is. We just want to win.”
