Gerard Pique had to withdraw early from Spain’s training session yesterday with the centre-back suffering from an abductor injury.
Marca reports that Pique was among the players who appeared to be in Vicente Del Bosque’s first XI for Spain’s final World Cup game, against Australia tomorrow.
He was joined by Juanfran, Raul Albiol, Koke, Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Juan Mata, Santi Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas and David Villa, although the left-back slot is still vacant and it’s suggested Koke could drop out.
The goalkeeper’s position is unclear too. It’s between Iker Casillas, the regular starter and captain, and Pepe Reina, with David De Gea out through injury.
Pique started training and worked with the ball but is feeling discomfort from his abductor muscle and may not feature against Australia.
