Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano has spoken briefly of his happiness at extending his contract with Barcelona.
Sport reports that it was felt Mascherano could be one of the players to leave Camp Nou this summer, particularly after comments he made following the penultimate game of the season at Elche.
“The next game could be the last for some of us,” the former Liverpool man said back in May.
But Mascherano has since agreed a new contract with La Blaugrana and while he wants to concentrate on the World Cup, he did touch on his fresh terms.
“I’m happy to have renewed with Barca. I’ll play there for four more years,” he said.
Mascherano will be 34 when his new deal expires, and suggested that he would move to River Plate when the contract is up.
