Manchester City won’t step in and sign Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes after the collapse of his move to Monaco, it’s been claimed.
Mundo Deportivo report that City have decided to keep faith with Joe Hart as the goalkeeper is perhaps the only regular English starter in Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
It had been suggested that City would resume their interest in Valdes after L’Equipe reported Monaco had backed out of the proposed signing.
Valdes suffered a serious knee injury in March, ending his season, and had already announced he would leave Camp Nou, although a destination was never publically confirmed.
Barca have offered Valdes the continued use of their facilities as he recovers from the injury but it’s not expected the Spain international will sign a new deal with the club and remain as a contracted player.
Valdes has said goodbye to his teammates and the technical staff, MD add, and cleared out his locker at the training ground.
He is contracted to Barca until June 30, and after that date will be a free agent.
