Valdes to continue recovery at Barca

Barcelona will let Victor Valdes use the club’s facilities to recover from injury after his proposed move to Monaco broke down.

It was reported yesterday that the Ligue 1 club had withdrawn their offer to the goalkeeper, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in March.

AS reports that Barca will continue to let Valdes use the club’s training base for his recuperation but won’t make an offer of a new contract, having already signed his replacement, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Real Sociedad’s Claudio Bravo is also close to joining Barca as back up to and competition for the German, and so Valdes would be surplus to requirements.

A move to the Premier League and Manchester City is now considered Valdes’ most likely destination.
