Brazil captain Thiago Silva has said the only way to stop Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is with a weapon.
The Paris Saint-Germain centre-back is quoted by Sport on the difficulty of facing Messi, having done so three times with Milan and PSG.
“The striker who takes away the dream more than anyone is Messi,” Silva lamented.
“He doesn’t need big moves to find space. He circulates while the rest of the team works with the ball.
“When the game goes to one side he’s on the other. And from there, to stop Messi hand-to-hand, you can only do it with a gun.
“Despite his injuries, facing Leo at the World Cup will be hard work.”
