Al-Thani ‘to quit Malaga’

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani has said he is to end his association with Malaga after bemoaning a perceived lack of respect.

Marca reports that Al-Thani made the announcement on his Twitter account and has previously issued such threats. He had already withdrawn funding for the club, who were banned from Europe last season for financial irregularities.

“I’m sorry to say this [but] yes I will go from here,” Al-Thani wrote on the social networking site. “Because I did not find the respect and appreciation and equality.”

Marca add that Al-Thani had wanted permission for building work in Malaga and when it wasn’t forthcoming, announced he was to quit the club.

He was absent from La Roseleda for 18 months but did attend the final game of the season, against Levante.
