Liverpool want Keita – report

Liverpool hope to persuade Seydou Keita to ditch Valencia and try his hand in the Premier League next season, reports in Spain claim.

Super Deporte say that the Reds wanted Keita last winter when he moved to Mestalla and haven’t given up on signing the ex-Barcelona midfielder.

Keita signed a six-month deal with Los Che after leaving Chinese outfit Dalian and is in talks over extending his stay at the club.

But those negotiations are said to have stalled and Liverpool have stepped in with a better offer.

Keita is understood to have rejected Liverpool in January due to a concern he wouldn’t be regularly involved but the club’s participation in the Champions League next season means manager Brendan Rodgers will rotate his starting XI more frequently.

That plus the bigger wages on offer could tempt the 34-year-old into signing on at Anfield.
