Xavi ‘will talk to Enrique’

Xavi Hernandez will speak with new Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique before deciding his future at the club, reports in Spain have said.

Marca claim the midfielder will only make a decision once he has spoken to Enrique but would like to see out the final two years of his contract.

Xavi has been linked with moves to Major League Soccer and the Middle East, although it is thought that Enrique wants the playmaker to remain at Camp Nou.

But Xavi and Enrique haven’t spoken as yet and Enrique said the conversation would happen after the World Cup.

Marca suggest it could happen before the tournament comes to an end, however, with Enrique eager to keep Xavi to account for the loss of ‘heavyweights’ Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol.

Xavi wants the coming season to go better than the one just ended, when Barca failed to lift any of the League, Cup or Champions League.

He was also disgruntled over the intensity of Tata Martino’s training sessions, believing they were too easy-going and it translated into the team’s performances.

Xavi is said to expect different from Enrique, who Marca claim not only understands Barca – having been a Barca player – but why the season ended in a disappointing manner for the Catalans.
