Ronaldo admits to final gamble

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he wasn’t fully fit for the Champions League final but believes the game was worth taking a risk.

Madrid eventually ran out 4-1 winners after extra-time, Ronaldo scoring the fourth goal from the penalty spot in the 120th minute.

He spoke to the Press after the match and Marca reports the forward as admitting he wasn’t at his best.

“I was limited but for a final it is always worth it,” Ronaldo said.

“I wanted to play regardless of not being 100%.

“[The Champions League] is something I wanted since I arrived and finally it has happened.”

Ronaldo added that he would now celebrate the victory and then focus on being fit to captain Portugal at this summer’s World Cup.
