Florentino Perez is already thinking of Real Madrid’s 11th European Cup after La Decima was claimed last night.
Real Madrid saw off city rivals Atletico Madrid with a 4-1 victory after extra time, and AS reports Perez paid tribute to Coach Carlo Ancelotti, the players and the fans after the match.
“This is a victory for the players, the fans…a magic number that was becoming an obsession,” Perez said.
“I have my personal dedication as everyone knows. I am very proud to be President of this club.
“The fans have brought us here, without any doubt. It’s only fair to acknowledge the support shown.
“Ancelotti came and brought us the 10th. I can’t say any more than he has come and kissed the saint.
“It’s been a pretty good season with seven new players. All fans are happy.
“[Sergio Ramos’] goal could have come a little sooner to avoid giving us a heart attack.
“[Iker Casillas’] performance was good. Ramos has been better at the season’s end and has given satisfaction to all Madridistas.
“It’s been a tough year but [Gareth Bale] has given us the title. Everyone has been great.
“I’ve always said that this club, which has become legend, is for the fans. It is best for the club.
“A culture that is passed from parents to children. Surely the fans think of the 11th? This is what makes Madrid eternal.”
Perez also commended Atletico, for their performance in the final and throughout the season.
“Atletico have not only had a great season but a magnificent final. They made it very difficult and I want to acknowledge the work of this club, our friends,” Perez added.
