Cristiano Ronaldo has been named by Time magazine as one of the world’s 100 most influential people.
Marca notes that Ronaldo is one of only four athletes on the list, along with tennis player Serena Williams, NFL player Richard Sherman and golfer Lydia Ko.
Pele wrote Ronaldo’s short profile for the issue and described the Real Madrid forward as akin to Portugal legend Eusebio.
“Cristiano is one of the most influential athletes today and I respect his competitiveness on the pitch,” Pele added.
“It’s no wonder he is currently considered the best player in the world.
“He reminds me a little of my late friend, Eusebio.”
Ronaldo is joined on the list by the likes of Beyonce, Pope Francis and Vladimir Putin.
