Jonas Eriksson has been confirmed as the referee for Atletico Madrid’s Champions League clash with Chelsea on Tuesday.
The Rojiblancos host the Premier League outfit in their European Cup semi-final first leg next week, and UEFA have confirmed that the Swede will be the official for the match.
The 40-year-old has taken charge of five games in this season’s Champions League, including Manchester City-Barcelona in the Last 16.
Eriksson came in for criticism that night from Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini who claimed that: “I think it was not a good idea to put a referee from Sweden in charge of such an important match, and a referee who made an important mistake against Barcelona in a previous match. Today he arranged it.”
