Ancelotti: Barca can win the title

Carlo Ancelotti believes Barcelona are still in the title race, and that the Copa del Rey final won’t be easy for Real Madrid.

The sides meet in the competition’s showpiece on Wednesday and while Madrid go into the game on the back of a 4-0 win over Almeria, Barca were beaten 1-0 by Granada.

By the end of Atletico Madrid’s game against Getafe today, Barca could be four points adrift of the League leaders.

But Marca reports Ancelotti as saying at his post-match Press conference that La Blaugrana are still contenders in both the League and the Cup.

“Barca’s defeat doesn’t change the game on Wednesday. It doesn’t change the dynamics,” the Italian said.

“It was a surprise Barca lost because they have more quality than Granada but at this time of the season all teams are fighting for their goals and those fighting for safety are the most dangerous.

“I think Barca believe they can still win the League. There are many surprises in this division and I think they will fight to the end.

“In our heads we don’t account for what happens with other teams. We have to look at our games. We don’t have time to think about anyone else’s.”

Ancelotti was asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury and who would replace the forward on Wednesday.

“No one can replace Cristiano,” Ancelotti replied.

“We’ll have to use another solution. With the help of Isco we are well balanced, with [Angel] Di Maria on the right.

“Now we have time to prepare for the final and the [Champions League] semi-final against Bayern Munich. This is a positive.”
