Pique to miss Copa final

Barcelona’s Gerard Pique is expected to miss the Copa del Rey final after he was injured against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Pique had to be withdrawn in the first-half of Barca’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Atletico after suffering what appeared to be a hip injury in a collision with Diego Costa.

It has since been confirmed that Pique has fractured his pelvis and faces a month on the sidelines.

Pique’s injury was originally thought to be a bruised pelvis but further tests revealed a hairline fracture.

Barca play Real Madrid in the Cup final on April 16 at Valencia’s Mestalla, one of five fixtures in the month that Pique is expected to miss.

Real Betis are Barca’s opponents this weekend while after that game comes the return leg against Atletico, with Granada, Madrid and Villarreal all to play before May.
