Manchester City have denied plotting the signing of Dani Alves should the Brazilian leave Barcelona this summer.
A report in the British Press said the Premier League side would tempt Barca with an offer of €18m but Mundo Deportivo believes the claim is wide of the mark.
The Spanish publication cites sources at City that deny the story and they add that Alves would be available for a lot less than €18m should Barca be willing to sell as he is approaching the final 12 months of his contract.
City have a number of former Barcelona executives in their ranks, with Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano in positions of power at the Etihad Stadium.
