Figo: Bernabeu boo everyone

Former Real Madrid player Luis Figo says sections of the Bernabeu booing Cristiano Ronaldo at the weekend is no big deal.

The Portuguese added that he could still see Los Blancos winning the league despite a recent slump in form.

“In football you have to be prepared for the kind of treatment Cristiano received,” Figo said to Marca.

“It’s not a question of whether or not he deserves it, football is like that.

“We shouldn’t make such a big deal out of it and it is now water under the bridge.

“The Bernabeu has booed everyone, in the next game they’ll applaud him! No one likes being booed but if it happens, it happens. It’s water off a duck’s back.

“I think Real still have a chance of winning the league title but they have to react. Two consecutive defeats are a real blow.

“Nobody can doubt the team’s quality. Real can’t be focused on just one competition, they have to fight for all three.

“I think what Atletico are doing is amazing, they are keeping it up until the very end. The work they are doing is admirable.”
