Marcelo’s pride at Madrid captaincy

Real Madrid defender Marcelo has revealed his pride at being one of the club captain’s at Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazilian left-back is, alongside Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Iker Casillas, one of a quartett of leaders for Los Blancos.

“My best memory is when I signed for Real Madrid, because when they said I was going to sign for them, I didn't believe it,” he told Entrevista Mahou.

“It was a spectacular moment. The warmth closeness of the people of Madrid were the most surprising aspects of moving to the Spanish capital.

“I feel like a Madrileño. We've been here since I was 18, it's a long time and we feel like we're from Madrid.

“You're still young in football. But then you remember how much pride it gives you to be one of the captains of Real Madrid.

“It is a grand responsibility because you're a role-model for all children who love football.”
