Zubi: Messi and Iniesta are historic

Andoni Zubizarreta has hailed Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi after Barcelona’s 4-3 win over Real Madrid.

The pair scored the goals between them – three for Messi and one for Iniesta – to move Barca to within a point of Madrid, who are second in the League behind Atletico Madrid on the head-to-head record.

Speaking to Canal+ after the final whistle, the sporting director commended the scorers.

“The names of Leo and Andres belong to the history of football,” Zubizarreta said.

“They have played a great game.”

Zubi also praised Neymar’s performance after the Brazil forward drew Barca’s first spot kick, with Sergio Ramos dismissed for bringing him down.

“Neymar was fully in the game and used his speed,” the former goalkeeper said.

“He has been very good in his first away Clasico.”
