Marcelo: Useless to talk about ref

Marcelo refrained from criticising referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco after Real Madrid’s 4-3 defeat by Barcelona.

Three penalties were awarded in the game – two for Barca and one for Madrid – while Sergio Ramos was dismissed for bringing down Neymar for Barca’s first spot kick.

Speaking to reporters after the final whistle, Marcelo was asked for his thoughts on the official but took the diplomatic route.

“I’m not going to talk about the ref. It’s water under the bridge and it’s useless now,” the left back said.

“We must think of what went wrong today so we don't do that again. There’s still a lot of games to play.

“We fought but it's very hard. Now we must win at Sevilla and not make the same mistakes as today.

“We tried to do as the Coach told us to do. We would like to always play well and keep a clean sheet. It’s difficult with 10 men.

“The League wouldn’t be over if we’d have won today. Now we have to keep fighting and win at Sevilla.”
