Xabi Alonso believes Real Madrid could have done better in their ‘rough, tough’ derby draw with Atletico Madrid.
A Cristiano Ronaldo goal gave Los Blancos a point after Koke and Gabi cancelled out Karim Benzema’s opener.
Speaking to Carrusel Deportivo after the match, Alonso revealed he was more pleased with Madrid’s second half than the first.
“We played more restrained but in the second half we were better,” Alonso said.
“Getting the draw means we did better.
“It was a rough, tough game with stoppages that went against us and our way of playing the game.
“There is nothing new in Vicente Calderon or any time you play Atletico. They’re sharp and intense.”
