Marcelo has suggested in the wake of Real Madrid’s 6-1 win over Schalke that this is the best Los Blancos side in a long time.
A brace each from Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo gave Carlo Ancelotti’s side an emphatic victory, with a 91st minute consolation from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar Schalke’s only reply.
Speaking after the final whistle Marcelo, who moved to Santiago Bernabeu in 2007, told reporters that every game is crucial to what he feels is a very strong Madrid side.
“We always think that every game is important, no matter whether it’s the Champions League or the Cup.
“For me the Spanish League is the best in the world. There are a lot of great teams.
“It may be that this is the best Madrid for years.”
