Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone admitted his side were second best in the 3-0 defeat against Osasuna.
Goals from Alejandro Cejudo, Emiliano Armenteros and Roberto Torres gave Osasuna the victory and denied Atletico the chance to move level on points at the top of the table with Real Madrid.
Simeone spoke to reporters after the final whistle, insisting that the only reason for the defeat was Osasuna were better on the night – not because he made a number of changes to his starting XI.
“Osasuna enjoyed a great first 20 minutes,” Simone said.
“We were lost, they outclassed us, and when that happens, we congratulate our rivals.
“To sum up tonight: they had a great game, we were awful and that's all there is to it.
“I would have preferred to have lost [this match] playing as we did in the second half."
