FIFA have confirmed that Curitiba will be a venue for the upcoming World Cup after a meeting held this afternoon.
The stadium had been under scrutiny, with construction not meeting the governing body’s December deadline.
However, they have revealed that Curitiba, the venue for Australia-Spain on June 23, has been approved.
“Curitiba confirmed as World Cup venue, based on the financial guarantees, the commitment by all stakeholders and progress made,” FIFA tweeted.
“It’s a race against a very tight timeline. Collective effort by all stakeholders involved in Curitiba must continue at highest pace.”
