Capello: Madrid can win it all

Former Real Madrid Coach Fabio Capello has backed Carlo Ancelotti to claim a treble this season.

Madrid are through to the Copa del Rey final, level on points with League leaders Barcelona and face Schalke in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Capello, who led Madrid between 1996 and 1997 and again a decade later, believes Madrid have the players to succeed on three fronts.

“I think Madrid can win all the competitions they’re competing in,” Marca reports the Russia national team Coach as saying.

“They have a squad of magnificent players and Ancelotti is extremely effective.”

Capello won La Liga in each of his two seasons at Santiago Bernabeu, as well as claiming the Champions League and four Serie A titles with Milan, two with Juventus [later revoked due to Calciopoli] and one with Roma.

The 67-year-old knows how hard life can be in the Spanish capital and added he is impressed by the way his compatriot has adapted.

“At Real you don’t even have time to breathe, but Ancelotti is doing very well.”
