Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago has undergone surgery on a fractured wrist and is also suffering from a sprained knee ligament.
Tiago had to be stretchered off in Atleti’s defeat to Almeria after a challenge by Helder Barbosa, with AS reporting the tackle left Tiago with Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in the right knee.
The 32-year-old injured his wrist in training on Thursday and a scan has determined he has fractured the scaphoid bone in his left wrist.
No timescale on a return has been announced but reports in the Press suggest he will definitely miss Atletico’s Champions League first leg game against Milan on February 19.
