Valencia Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi conceded Atletico Madrid deserved to win the Copa del Rey tie between the sides.
Pizzi insisted the referee was wrong to award the corner that let to Atleti’s first goal of the evening but didn’t try to claim the 3-1 aggregate score line was unfair.
“We have been beaten by a team that has a lot more strength than we do and put more work in than us.
“To counter that disadvantage we have to be at our best. Otherwise a team like Atletico will win,” Pizzi told a post-match Press conference.
“There was a refereeing error for the first goal,” Pizzi continued.
“The referee gave a non-existent corner but we failed to mark Godin.
“The goalkeeper did not touch the ball but that move is completed and when play restarted we failed to mark Godin.”
Godin scored the opening goal of the game in the second-half with Raul Garcia adding the second, having also netted in the first-leg.
