Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin insists his team will not be putting the Copa del Rey to one side this season.
Los Rojiblancos currently sit second in La Liga behind Barcelona on goal difference and have qualified for the Last 16 of the Champions League.
Having won the Copa del Rey last season the holders now face a two-legged tie with Valencia for a place in the quarter-finals, and Godin has made it clear that Wednesday’s game at Mestalla is the only thing on the players’ minds despite next weekend’s League clash with La Blaugrana.
“We are already thinking about Valencia. Anybody who thinks that we will be putting the cup to one side this season is mistaken,” the Uruguayan told a Press conference.
It was a sentiment that was echoed by midfielder Koke.
“Valencia is the only thing in our minds and we are only concentrating that, not Barcelona.
“We don’t like to give any side anything and want to win every game we play,” maintained Koke.
