Serie A clubs ponder Banega move

Valencia midfielder Ever Banega is set to become the subject of renewed interest from Serie A in the winter transfer market.

The Argentine international, 25, has a contract at the Mestalla until June 2015, yet reports in the Italian media suggest Milan, Inter, Roma and Fiorentina are all monitoring his situation in Spain.

Milan are understood to be in pole position should he decide to leave Valencia, whom he joined from Boca Juniors in January 2008 for a reported €20m, and they are weighing him up as an alternative to Cagliari’s Belgium international Radja Nainggolan.

The Italians are believed to want Banega on an initial loan agreement with an option to buy, although the player himself intimated to Superdeporte back in November that his first option would be to renew his existing contract with Valencia.

Even so, a bid of more than €10m would force Los Che’s hand despite the club admitting they have not received any concrete offers for the player.
