Inigo: Same again, La Real

Inigo Martinez has urged his Real Sociedad teammates to take the spirit shown against Celta Vigo on Saturday out to Ukraine to try and beat Shakhtar Donetsk.

La Real head out to the Donbass Arena this Wednesday for the fifth matchday of the Champions League group stages in need of a win to have any hopes of making the knockout stages of the competition or qualifying for the Europa League.

For their young Spanish international centre-back though, the come-from-behind 4-3 win against Celta Vigo on Saturday night is proof that they can respond to difficult moments.

“We cannot always play well, but it is important that we fight together to prove that we can overcome difficulty,” Inigo Martinez has told reporters today.

“Celta made things complicated, but fortunately our forwards were successful and we picked up three very important points.

“We want to win in Ukraine, even as we know it will be a very different game to those we have played in La Liga.

“We know that things are difficult, but we have to win. We have to fight in Ukraine as we did yesterday.

“At Anoeta the defeat was a shock for us, whilst they will have the advantage of being at home this week and they are in a good run of form.

“But we have nothing to lose and are going there to win.”
