Valencia forward Jonas has admitted that he understands why Diego Costa opted for Spain over Brazil.
The Atletico Madrid man has chosen to represent La Roja at international level over his home nation, and the Selecao forward has claimed that he appreciates the former Rayo Vallecano man’s decision.
“You have to respect Diego’s decision,” he told reporters. “He has a history here and has come through as a player in Spain.
“Playing in a World Cup in our home country would be special, and I would have chosen Brazil, but Spain are my other favourite.”
Jonas has been out for the past few weeks with injury, but has insisted that he is recovering well.
“Last week I was working hard, trying to get back to my best. This break has been important for me, and I’ll be available for Sunday’s game.”
