Borja: Atleti are title challengers

Borja Fernandez has outlined his belief that Getafe’s Week 14 opponents Atletico Madrid are capable of pushing for the League title this term.

Atleti will host Los Azulones after the international break second in La Liga and just three points behind a currently unbeaten Barcelona.

For one of Getafe’s midfield gearing up for a week on Saturday, Los Colchoneros are credible title challengers.

“I believe that they are candidates for the title,” Borja has told reporters this week.

“They started very well last year. It was the first year that they had that intensity and in the end they fell away a little and went through a regular period.

“But I think that this year they will be right there until the end.

“That they have many points on the board means something. It is Barcelona and then them and they are there for something.

“They are very clear in how they play and they all work together. Apart from the quality, they also have the commitment.”

Getafe, though, head into the fixture in improved form of late, sitting sixth in La Liga for the November international break.

“We know we are going to have a hard time, they are a very strong team and we are going to have to be at our best.

“If we have the points that we do then it is for something and the fans can believe that we may be capable of achieving something.

“We have a clear idea and are working well. From that idea we have moved little and the results have arrived.

“We hope that continues. We carry a good percentage of points this term and hopefully that will continue.”
