Juve see Alonso as vice-Pirlo

Juventus apparently have Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso in mind should they see Andrea Pirlo not renew his contract in Turin.

Both Pirlo and Alonso have their future up for speculation this season with both out of contract come June 2014.

Reports are mixed on Alonso’s situation in Spain and it has been written at times both that he is eyeing a move abroad for next season and that he is intent on staying in the Spanish capital.

The Corriere della Sera assert in today’s edition that Juve, who have been previously linked with the 31-year-old, are in line with the former theory and that provisional talks over bringing him over to Serie A have already begun and with a positive response from the player’s camp.

It is alleged that Juve’s intention is to bring in the Spanish international to replace Pirlo, should the Italian playmaker opt not to renew his contract with Antonio Conte’s team.
