‘Not much difference between us’

Milan centre-back Cristian Zapata felt that there was ‘little difference’ between his side and Barcelona on Wednesday evening.

The Rossoneri were defeated 3-1 at the Camp Nou, but enjoyed a number of chances and a share of possession, particularly in the second half.

“I'm not sure that there was really that much difference between the two teams tonight,” Zapata reflected to reporters post-match.

“We went out to win here and we had opportunities to score, we just didn't convert. Despite all that we don't leave here happy.

“The match was there for the taking right until the closing stages but the goal to bring us a draw just wouldn't come our way.

“All that's left is to work away because our options of staying in the competition remain alive. When Balotelli came on I thought it was going to be a decisive change in our favour.

“He gave Barca's defenders problems without actually putting the ball in the net. As for Messi – what crisis?”
