Ramos: Best around the corner

Sergio Ramos sees Real Madrid improving ‘match by match’ and after victory over Juventus has promised: “You will see our best side very soon.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s early strike and penalty proved a double enough to counter Fernando Llorente’s equaliser for a 2-1 win for Los Blancos in Wednesday evening’s Champions League group stage encounter with Juve.

“A victory always lifts the morale of the team,” enthused Ramos after the game.

“It's true that there are things we need to improve upon but in terms of facing into our next games, there is no better way than to win a game like this.

“We have three wins in three matches and nine points. We really want get through to the Round of 16 and we are going the right way about it.

“We are working hard for these results. Now we have to think about the league matches before the next Champions League match. We are very happy with the win and three more points.

“We are on the right path in terms of what we are working to achieve which is why we are getting good results.

“Perhaps after they had a man sent off the team relaxed a little as the result was in our favour at that stage.

“The result is a fair reflection. Obviously it's a competition that we have a lot of affection for and the team is trying to show its best.

“The difference between Juventus and us is not very big but we’re not the same players and the style of play is not the same. We wish them well but just not against us.

“This game will help us to continue getting better in certain aspects and also to gain more rhythm. I think you will see our best side very soon.”

Next up for the team is the Clasico in Week 10 of La Liga at the Camp Nou.

“Real Madrid improves throughout the year, match by match, which is how we have done well. The gap is not very big and, as things are, our fate is in our own hands.

“On Saturday we have an important match and it would be a big step to win in the Camp Nou, but the matches there are tough and we know that anything can happen.

“With the Clasico, you can’t look at recent results. They will always go out there to give their best in this type of match.

“There are things that we need to keep improving, but it always good to get a win before a Clasico.”
