Weligton has listed his hope that Malaga return to their early-season form soon, as he reflects on his first appearance of the season.
This weekend’s trip out to Real Madrid saw the defender make his comeback from a broken collarbone suffered in preseason.
For the Brazilian, returning to playing was a notable moment.
“I was so eager to get back on the pitch and feel like a footballer again,” Weligton has mused to reporters today.
“The most important thing for me was to forget my fear of being injured again, and now I’m focused on regaining the rhythm of play to return to 100 per cent match fitness.”
However, Malaga lost the fixture 2-0, to follow on from Week 8’s reverse at home to Osasuna. For Weligton, next week’s home test with Celta Vigo is looking important.
“We are always concerned [having suffered a defeat], because we went into that game with a very dynamic attitude, whilst we played well without being able to achieve the three points.
“But the feelings were different and hopefully against Celta we can see the Malaga side that began this season.
“We need to be as strong as possible at our home ground. We know our fans will be behind us all the way and we can’t wait for Saturday.”
Malaga are certainly favourites to collect the three points, as you can get 13/20 for them to beat Celta in La Liga.
You are unlikely, however, to change your life by taking such a punt. If you are looking for the big money, have a lottery flutter.
