Benitez turns down Rami loan

Rafa Benitez has reportedly turned down an unofficial offer from Valencia President Amadeo Salvo to take Adil Rami on loan to Napoli this January.

Los Che are seen as eager to offload the French international in the winter break, as his return from an in-house suspension for publicly criticising his teammates and Coach ends next week, without much resolution on a definitive sanction.

Whilst in London this week, club chief Salvo reportedly met with former Valencia boss Benitez, after attending Arsenal’s Champions League match against the Spaniard’s current side Napoli.

AS report that the informal meeting between Salvo and the Italian club’s Coach in part centred on a possible loan move for Rami.

Whilst the Vesuviani were believed to have had an offer for the 27-year-old turned down in July, though, this informal offer is understood to have originated from Salvo suggesting that the Serie A side come back in with a loan bid in January.

However, it is understood that Benitez declined the opportunity, indicating that he is not interested in such a move at the moment.

Meanwhile, Superdeporte are running a similar line and also speculate that Salvo enquired as to the availability in January of Fede Fernandez.

The Argentine defender played the second half of last season on loan at Getafe, has struggled for game-time so far under Benitez back in Italy and is seen as one of Los Che’s possible options in replacing Rami midseason.
