Arda Turan renewal expected

Reports are that Atletico Madrid will this week announce that Arda Turan has agreed to an improved contract at the club.

The Turkish playmaker has developed into a key part of Diego Simeone’s side and in recent transfer windows has been linked with a move away.

With former side Galatasaray seen as pressing for the 26-year-old alongside the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, Atleti have reportedly been working behind the scenes to tie him down.

AS understand that a new contract for Arda could be announced as soon as this week, to extend his current deal by two years and commit him through to June 2017.

It is also believed that the contract would increase the player’s buyout clause from its current level of €24m, to put off prospective buyers.

Atleti signed Arda from Galatasaray in 2011 for a fee of €12m.
