Malaga defender Weligton has reflected on last season’s turbulent Champions League campaign.
The centre-back is currently sidelined after recovering from a broken collarbone, but he has taken the time to talk about last year’s European adventure.
“We are desperate to get back in the Champions League,” he told reporters. “The rise from the group stages was the most exciting thing, but in Dortmund I lived the worst moment of my career.
“I think last year the group was not focused. There were many players who did not know whether they would continue with this project.
“And then when Pellegrini announced he was leaving, thing changed. That was a shame.
“But we are doing a lot better economically now, so hopefully in the near future we can be back in the top three or four.”
