Two years at the top for Spain

The latest FIFA World Rankings have confirmed Spain’s latest reign at the top as having now lasted two consecutive years.

La Roja have dominated the top spot in the international rankings since winning the 2008 European Championships, holding first spot for all but eight months ever since.

Last displaced by the Netherlands for August 2011, Vicente del Bosque’s side have this September been once more confirmed as the best ranked nation in the world, to mark 24 months, two years consecutive in the position.

La Roja hold a lead of almost 300 points over second ranked Argentina, with Germany slipping one position to third and Italy moving up to fourth.
