‘Djukic unsure how to use me’

Dorlan Pabon has admitted that Miroslav Djukic has yet to determine the preferred position on the pitch to start the Colombian at Valencia.

The €7.5m signing arrived this summer from Monterrey and is seen as one of the club’s primary replacements for Roberto Soldado.

However, the 25-year-old is comfortable playing further from the penalty area and this has so far led to uncertainty.

“My preferred position in the team is to start out wide and work inwards, but I will try to do well wherever I am put,” Pabon reflected to reporters today.

“The truth is that we still do not know where the Coach wants to use me because I have been moved across several positions.

“But wherever I am placed I have to prove I can do the great things that I saw brought for.”

Pabon’s stock rose during the last six months of last season thanks to a six-month loan spell at Real Betis, who his Valencia visit this weekend.

“I’m happy to return to a stadium where I did a good job. Now I am working for Valencia and hopefully there is the possibility that I can do as well here as I did with Betis.

“Would I celebrate a goal? First we have to do things right, get the three points, and after that we shall see about the celebration.”
