Cristiano ‘not worried’ over renewal

Cristiano Ronaldo claims he is not worried over talk of his contract renewal with Real Madrid.

“I have several years ahead of me and the renewal is not something that worries me right now,” asserted the Portuguese international in an interview with AS.

“Things happen naturally and sooner or later we will find out. It’s not worrying. Things are going well. I’m happy and I don’t consider it the end of the world.”

However, the former Manchester United man admitted he was disappointed with how last season ended, with the Copa del Rey final defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“It’s obviously disappointing because we only won the Supercopa, but we are going to try and win La Liga and the Champions League [this season].

“It will be difficult but we have a good team and will try to make it happen. Ancelotti is a great Coach, a great man, and I’m very happy to be working with him.”

Ronaldo now has 40 goals for Portugal following his late equaliser in the midweek friendly draw with Holland, one behind the legendary Eusebio and seven adrift of Pauleta, but contends he does not have his eye on records.

“I don’t think of beating the record. Things happen naturally, as I said, both with the national team and my club, although I think I’ll overcome Eusebio’s tally.

“I’ve got more years in front of me with Portugal but I’m not obsessed by it.”
