Negredo celebrates La Roja return

Alvaro Negredo could not hide his satisfaction on his return to the Spain team in the 2-0 friendly victory over Ecuador.

The Manchester City striker opened the scoring for Vicente Del Bosque’s team in the 25th minutes with an outrageous backheeled goal that set La Roja on the road to victory.

“I saw the ball coming towards me and thought about doing it. It just seemed the best thing to do and it came off very well.

“I’m dedicating my goal to those who have always been there for me. Hopefully I can continue representing the national team, although I’ll need to keep fighting for a place.

“I’ve missed it and was really looking forward to linking up again. I scored and am very happy about that,” Negredo told reporters post-match.

He also commented briefly on on how he was acclimatising to life in Manchester following his summer move from Sevilla.

“I’m very happy at City and getting used to it is easier because of all the Spanish that are there,” he explained.
