‘Ronaldo will retire with Madrid’

Florentino Perez has reiterated his message on Cristiano Ronaldo, reassured PSG over transfer links and enthused about Karim Benzema and Zinedine Zidane.

Ronaldo has been continually linked with a move away from Madrid as rumours persist that contract renewal talks have stalled.

However, maintaining his position on the matter, this week has seen Los Blancos’ President once more affirm the Portuguese’s future.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world and Real Madrid revolves around him,” Perez told today’s edition of L’Equipe.

“I can assure you that this is where he will end his career. And we have not received any offer.”

Last week saw Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi assure that if his club were to go in for Ronaldo, it would be done through the correct channels.

With Madrid linked with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti this summer, Perez took the opportunity to reciprocate the message.

“We will not touch any player. Neither Ibrahimovic nor Verratti nor any other. And if in a year or two or more, we want one, we will call Nasser before to talk.”

Perez was asked of Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema, who last season came under further criticism in his home country for his performances for the national team.

“Benzema will be here this season. I feel particularly happy and motivated and I believe that [Carlo] Ancelotti’s system will best suit his characteristics.”

This season sees Zinedine Zidane take a role on the bench as joint assistant Coach.

“He has an eye for discovering talent. His recommendations have been essential in the arrivals of Isco and Asier Illarramendi. I do not hide that one day I will see him coaching Real Madrid.”
