Alonso steps up recovery

Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso continued his recovery from surgery on a groin injury by briefly rejoining the main group in training today.

In the team’s penultimate session before heading out to England to face Bournemouth in their first preseason friendly of the summer, Los Blancos saw the midfielder take part in the first half an hour of activities.

Alonso, who then stepped aside when the players were split for mini games against each other, is continuing his recovery from surgery in June on a persistent groin injury.

Meanwhile, Asier Illarramendi spent another day working alone, whilst so did Raphael Varane, as they continue respective recoveries also.
