Madrid in fresh Suarez push

Real Madrid are ready to steal a march on Arsenal in their bid to take Luis Suarez to the Emirates Stadium.

A report in The Sun maintains Madrid President Florentino Perez is set to offer Liverpool around €46m for the Uruguayan international, a matter of days after the Anfield club turned down a €35m offer from Arsenal.

The wantaway striker revealed on Tuesday that he had ‘two or three options’ with regards next season, although he dismissed rumours he is about to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

“There are no other offers yet but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want,” Suarez is quoted as saying.

His agent Pere Guardiola, brother of former Barcelona boss Pep, met Reds’ manager Brendan Rodgers and managing director Ian Ayre on Monday, where he is understood to have insisted his client wants to join a club playing Champions League football next term.

In the meantime, the Spanish giants have emerged as hot favourites to capture his signature, with Suarez believed to have already admitted he would find it hard to turn down a lucrative move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 26-year-old is currently on holiday following his exertions in the Confederations Cup and told Uruguayan radio station Sport 890 that he is ‘resting and relaxed’.
